What’s the right side to position the Refuel Door on a GenTent?

The GenTent refueling door is designed to be placed on the side of the generator farthest from the exhaust muffler to reduce the risk of fire. Since generator exhausts can be located on different sides, sometimes on the back or opposite the control panel, the correct refueling side depends on your specific model. Always install the GenTent so the refueling door is positioned as far from the exhaust as possible to avoid spilled fuel contacting hot surfaces. If gasoline is spilled near a hot exhaust during refueling, the vapors or liquid fuel can ignite. Always refuel from the safe side; never where the exhaust vents.

Fueling safety tips to keep in mind:

  • Shut the generator off and let it cool for at least 10 minutes before refueling.
  • Fill the tank outdoors; never indoors or in enclosed spaces.
  • Do not over fill; over filling allows for expansion and prevents overflow.
  • If fuel spills, wipe it up completely and wait for full evaporation before restarting.
  • Limit continuous run time to 14–15 hours, with 2–3 hour cooldown periods.
